Annual membership survey
As we started the New Year the College invited
members to share their thoughts on the RCGP’s performance in the
annual membership satisfaction survey. The views of members are
important and the College would like to thank the many members who
took part.
You said - We
did.
Each year the RCGP publishes its
annual membership survey and enables you to provide insight into
what matters to you, how we are performing as your professional
body and what member benefits you would like to see us provide in
the future.
Your response to our 2011 survey
has had a direct impact on College activity and we wanted to take
the opportunity to show you how:
Membership says something positive about
you…
In 2011 you told us that being a member of the College
says something positive about you, that you support the aims and
objectives of the College and that you value the benefits, tools
and services that the College offers.
You want us to better represent
you...
You'd like to see us be more active representing the
profession to media and government so our Chair, Clare Gerada, has
been busy representing you and we hope that her weekly updates
reassure you of her continued efforts. Moving forward we are also
raising awareness of our policy work and demonstrating its
relevance to your practice.
You like our eLearning
opportunities and want to see more…
You rated our online learning highly in comparison to
other providers, particularly Essential Knowledge Updates and
Challenges and a significant number of members have made changes to
your practise having used our online learning. You will be pleased
to hear that we are launching a brand new website later in the year
to make your online experience more user-friendly and intuitive. We
are also placing emphasis on podcasts and online videos.
You communicated the clinical issues that were of most
concern to you...
These included obesity, mental
illness/health, old age/elderly/ageing population, alcohol
misuse/alcohol-related diseases, diabetes, cancer/cancer
care/screening/early detection/diagnosis, healthy living
(promotion)/lifestyle/self-care/responsibility/public
health/exercise, dementia, rationing (of drugs/resources)/drug
pricing/cutbacks/postcode lottery. You can see details of our
updated courses on many of these issues at
www.rcgp.org.uk/events or
http://www.elearning.rcgp.org.uk/
and we are pleased to say you will see more education on these
topics provided over the coming year.
You wanted us to simplify our
joining and membership renewal process…
This year your renewal confirmation will be sent to you via
email (instead of by post) and new joiners will be able to join
online and set-up Direct Debits electronically. Existing members
are also able to do this over the phone. Further improvements will
follow after the launch of our new website.
If you didn’t take part in the survey
last year and would like to comment on a particular issue please do
not hesitate to contact Head of Membership Development, Richard
Gott (initiatives@rcgp.org.uk)
