Membership
Entry assessments
Eligibility
In addition those wishing to become Members must also be
eligible to be a principal in the National Health Service (or
overseas equivalent). Those practising in the United Kingdom will
be required to provide evidence that they have passed all elements
of summative assessment or the MRCGP as prescribed by the
Postgraduate Medical and Education Training Board (PMETB) and be
eligible for a Certificate of Prescribed or Equivalent Experience.
For further information about the CCT for General Practice, please
contact the College’s
Certification Unit.
Membership is about both the attainment of the MRCGP assessment and
the payment of the appropriate annual subscription fee. To
recognise this, only Members of the College may use the designation
MRCGP. Whether Members have sat and passed the MRCGP or nMRCGP, the
postnominal 'MRCGP' applies. The term ‘Members in Good Standing’ is
also used to denote members who continue to fulfil the requirements
for membership of the College.
