How to become a full Member of the College

Please use the following information to learn how to become a full Member. If you have any questions about your membership status, please contact the Membership Support team on 020 7589 8710.

I. MRCGP- pass candidates

1. MRCGP pass candidate as an Associate in Training

• I have completed and passed the MRCGP as an Associate in Training (AiT)
• I have received my certificate from PMETB

A) You will be upgraded to full Member automatically upon receiving the information of the release of your certificate by PMETB:

• If you have paid your Associate in Training fee for the current subscription year (1 April 2010 -31 March 2011) your status will be upgraded  to full Member free of charge until the end of the subscription year. You will be eligible to use the post nominals 'MRCGP' and to attend a New Members' Ceremony. You will also receive continued access to the ePortfolio and full Membership benefits.
• If you have not paid your subscription fee and we have your Direct Debit details on file, the appropriate membership fee will be applied to your record. You will be notified of the amount payable and the collection date at least 10 working days in advance of the collection. Your status will be upgraded to full Member in the meanwhile and you will receive continued access to the ePortfolio and full Membership benefits. You will be eligible to use the post nominals 'MRCGP' and to attend a New Members' Ceremony.

B) If we do not hold your Direct Debit mandate on file (i.e. you have joined the College as an AiT via the Certification Unit), please forward a completed Direct Debit mandate to us.

Alternatively, please refer to the current schedule of subscription fees for payments by cheque, debit or credit card. You will be upgraded to full Member upon receipt of the subscription fee payment, at which time, you will also receive continued access to the ePortfolio and full Membership benefits, in addition to being eligible to use the post nominals 'MRCGP' and attend the New Members' Ceremony.

2.  MRCGP pass candidate as a NON-Associate in Training

• I have completed and passed the MRCGP as a NON-Associate in Training (NON-AiT)
• I have received my certificate from PMETB/JCPTGP

In order to become a  full Member of the College, please complete an application form and post it to the Membership Support Department with the appropriate fee. Once your application has been processed, you will receive a welcome pack and your Certificate of Membership. As a Member of the College, you will be eligible to use the post nominals 'MRCGP' and attend a New Members' Ceremony. You will also receive access to full membership benefits.

II. (i)MAP- pass candidates

• I have completed and passed (i)MAP
• I have received my certificate from PMETB/JCPTGP

You should have received an application form from the iMAP department upon successful completion of iMAP assessment. Alternatively, you can download and print the membership application form from our website. Please post the completed application form along with the copy of your PMETB/JCPTGP Certificate and the appropriate subscription fee to the Membership Support Department. Once your application has been processed, you will become a full Member of the College. You will be eligible to use the post nominal 'MRCGP' and to attend a New Members' Ceremony. You will receive access to full membership benefits.

III. MRCGP[INT]

• I have met the criteria for MRCGP[INT]

In order to become an International Member of the College, please complete an International application form and post it to the Membership Support Department with the appropriate subscription fee. Details of the current fees for International Members appear on the application form itself. Once your application and fees have been processed,  you will become an International Member of the College and you will be eligible to use the post nominals 'MRCGP[INT]'  and attend the New Members' Ceremony. You will also receive access to full Membership benefits.

Message to Associates

If you are currently an Associate member of the College, you may also be eligible for an upgrade to full Membership,  providing you have passed either  MRCGP or iMAP. Please contact the Membership Support team for more information.
