Portfolio Assessment

The portfolio requires you to record activities that you carry out during your working day, and then reflect on and justify your actions.

You will find all the information necessary for the Portfolio stage of iMAP below.  This includes the portfolio templates (which you will need to download and populate with your work) and the Handbook (which you must refer to when compiling your portfolio) as well as some additional guidance.

Click here for a summary of the differences between Portfolio and Modular iMAP

iMAP Handbook

The Handbook details the requirements for each of the fifteen criteria, which are the same for both Portfolio and Modular iMAP.  It may be downloaded here: iMAP Handbook.  Candidates must submit evidence for each criterion as indicated in this document.

iMAP Templates

If you are undertaking Portfolio iMAP, click here for the iMAP portfolio template.  If you are undertaking Modular iMAP, the templates are below.  The Guidance documents relate to both formats of iMAP.

If you are undertaking Modular iMAP, you must also complete and submit the candidate context document when submitting your first criterion for assessment.

Each criterion will be marked and given a score according to these definitions of scores. Where resubmissions are necessary, the assessors' comments (within your marked portfolio) should offer guidance as to how to fulfil the requirements of the criterion. Please remember that it is important to have a strong portfolio to assist you at the oral assessment stage.

Additional Guidance and Example Portfolio

iMAP assessors who facilitate study days have provided some information on Planning and Getting Started small word logo as well as a short guide to Getting the Portfolio Right small powerpoint logo along with additional advice on each of the Portfolio criteria (above) to complement the Handbook.

Please read the Submission Requirements small word logo when you are ready to submit your portfolio. Completed portfolios must be submitted by email to imap@rcgp.org.uk. The iMAP Team will confirm receipt of your portfolio within 3 working days, if you do not hear from us within this timeframe please contact us.

An Example Portfolio is also provided below.  The aim of this is to provide candidates with an idea of the acceptable standard for each criterion; these examples are purely for illustration and should not be used as the basis for a candidate's submission.  Click here to download the Example Portfolio small pdf logo main.
