Discounted rates 2012-13

Find out if you qualify for a reduced rate.


 

The full rate for 1 April 2012 - 31 March 2013 has been set at £485.  College Bye-laws cater for members in various circumstances where a subscription fee may be reduced or, in exceptional circumstances, waived.

 

All subscription discounts, except for overseas residency, permanent retirement (where known) and 2 year discount, are available on annual application/renewal only.

 

Earnings are based on gross income from all professional services (including general practice) during the year 1 April 2011 - 31 March 2012.

 

To apply for any of the above rates, please respond to your renewal notice in early March. If you have any questions regarding your eligibility, please contact the membership services team. 

 


 

Income related discounts

50% discount if your income was between £8,792 - £39,826, set at £242.

75% discount if your income was less than £8,792, set at £121.

 

Members of secondary affiliation

A 50% discount, set at £242, is available if you work in another medical discipline and are paying subscription to another Royal College or Faculty, allowing you to retain links with the College.


Other discounts

 

Overseas residents

If you reside overseas on 1 April of any subscription year, a reduced rate will be automatically applied in line with our International/Overseas fee structure based on the World Bank country categorisation, provided that we have your main overseas residence address on file.

 

Permanent retirement

If you are a UK resident and have fully retired from professional medical practice (ie. receive no remuneration from work based on your medical qualifications) by virtue of age, ill-health or other circumstances accepted by Council, you will on the subsequent 1 April receive a 75% discount from the full rate, set at £121. Fully retired members of the College are entitled to apply for Life membership.

 

Maternity and adoption leave

If you a UK resident and were on leave between 2 April 2011 and 1 April 2012, you are entitled to claim a 75% discount from the full rate, set at £121. If your leave starts after 2 April 2012, you will be able to claim this rate in the 2013-14 subscription year. This reduction is available for one subscription year per child only. If your leave falls across two subscription years, the rate should be applied for the year in which the major part of your leave has taken place.

 

If you are not returning to work following your leave, you may be eligible for a discounted rate on other grounds, e.g. career break or reduced income.

 

Currently not working

If you are a UK resident and not in employment on 1 April of any subscription year, you can claim a 75% discount from the full rate, set at £121.
 

2 year discount from full rate only

£100 deduction from the full UK rate is applied automatically to Members who passed the MRCGP examination within 2 years of the current subscription year AND who have been a Member for less than 2 subscription years immediately preceding 31 March.

Cases of hardship

Council may review any individual case of hardship on its merits and if thought appropriate, reduce the annual subscription payable.

 

Discounts based on payment methods

Please note all rates are further discounted by £10 (for full annual rate) payable by annual Direct Debit and £5 for Direct Debit quarterly instalments. See payment methods page.
