Fees and payments
Find out about subscription fees, discounts
and payment schedules.
There are a number of rates available to suit
your circumstances. Our discounts are applied based on residency,
gross income from all professional services and personal
situations.
The RCGP is a professional body registered by HM Revenue and
Customs. This means that if you pay your membership fee from your
earnings and live in the UK, you can currently claim tax relief,
which reduces the real cost of your membership. We have
calculated the savings that you may
benefit from, but the amount that each individual can claim will
depend on your circumstances. For more information on tax
relief and taxable bands, please visit HM Revenue and
Customs website
or contact your tax advisor, as we are unable
to provide individual tax advice.
The membership year runs from 1 April to 31 March with rates set
by the Council each year. An invitation to renew is sent to all
members in late February/early March with the estimated
subscription fee. Please review the appropriate
schedule of fees (see links below) to ensure
that you are paying the fees appropriate to your personal
circumstances. UK resident subscriptions are mostly
earnings-related and follow BMA structure. Please remember RCGP
membership is tax deductable - you can
save between 20-40% of the cost of your membership
subscription.
If you are joining the College for the first time, or are
reinstating your membership, the period from the date of
joining to the following 31 March is deemed to be the first year of
membership. First year's subscription fees are determined according
to the quarter-year period during which you join or re-join,
therefore fees are reduced by 25% every 3 months as the year
proceeds. The College welcomes back lapsed and resigned
members and therefore there is no rejoining penalty fee. Subsequent
renewals fall on 1 April each year. Please remember RCGP membership
is tax deductable - you can save between
20-40% of the cost of your membership subscription.
There is a variety of payment methods on offer and
we currently provide discounts for payments by Direct
Debit, the most convenient and effortless way to renew your
membership. We are working to introduce online payments and
paperless Direct Debit instructions.
Receipts and membership cards
Receipts are issued via email (as an adobe
attachement) to all members following the
full annual subscription payment. Please save your
receipts for future reference or to offset
your fees against tax.
If you would like to receive electronic receipts, please ensure
that you provide us with a valid email address and that
you update your details regularly through the self-service area. If you require a receipt for
previous subscription year/s or do not wish to provide us with your
email address, please contact the membership services
team who will be happy to assist. Members paying by
quarterly Direct Debit instalments will be issued receipts
following the settlement of the last instalment.
RCGP membership cards are non-expiry at present. If you have
lost or misplaced your membership card, the membership services team will be happy
to organise a replacement.
