Here are some questions your fellow doctors had on joining


 

I've recently joined as a Member. When can I expect to receive my certificate of membership?

Certificates are issued to our new Members shortly after applications are processed, approximately 2-3 weeks from clearance of payment. New Members will receive a welcome pack first which is followed by the certificate of membership. If Members request to have the certificate professionally framed then this can take up to 6 weeks to be received from the framing company.

 

How and when can I use the post-nominals 'MRCGP'?

Full Members are eligible to use the post-nominals 'MRCGP' as long as they remain members in good standing i.e. subscription fees are paid according to the individual payment plan (annually or by installments).  Full membership is attained by completion of MRCGP or iMAP and the receipt JCPTGP/PMETB Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT or CEGPR).

 

When will I get an invitation to a New Members’ Ceremony?

All new Members will be invited to a New Members' Ceremony in their first 12 months of membership. The Membership Initiatives team will contact you as and when the ceremonies are scheduled. Please visit the ceremony pages for more information.

 

If I join part-way through the subscription year how much do I pay?

The subscription year is divided into quarters. Depending on the time of year that you start your membership, you will be eligible to pay differing amounts. See fees and payments.

 

I was previously a Member, if I wish to re-join do I need to re-sit the exam?

No, you can re-join without re-sitting the exam. However, unless you are retired or live overseas, you will need to be registered with GMC. We may ask you to provide a copy of your JCPTGP/PMETB certificate if we don't have one on file.

 

When do I renew my membership?

The subscription year runs from 1 April until 31 March. You will be sent a renewal invitation in February/March each year. If your circumstances have changed over the last year you should inform us so that we can apply any necessary discounts to your payment plan (upon receipt of your renewal notice).
