Associate membership and MAP
A fully GMC registered medical practitioner and have completed vocational training for general practice, but have not passed the MAP or MRCGP assessments? Then Associate membership is a suitable option for you.
Reasons to join
Joining RCGP gives you unparalleled opportunities for networking with other GPs, attending events and getting involved with your local RCGP Faculty.
Other benefits include:
As an Associate member you will be entitled to all membership benefits. However, you will not be able to use the MRCGP post-nominal and some restrictions will apply to college ballots.
Practitioners usually apply for associate membership if they have not completed either MRCGP examination or MAP, for example completing vocational training prior to MRCGP becoming a part of the GP curriculum in 2007, or while undertaking the MAP portfolio assessment. Successful completion of MAP leads to full membership.
Those who undertake MAP (Portfolio route) are given free Associate membership while they are registered for the assessment. Successful completion of MAP leads to full membership.
For more information about full membership via MAP, please visit: MRCGP via MAP assessment.
