RCGP Certificate in the Management of Drug Misuse Part 2

Applications for 2018 is now open.

This course builds on the existing Part 1 certificate and is aimed at those practitioners wishing to become GPs with a Special Clinical Interest or a Practitioner with Special Interest.

In order to fulfil the requirements of the criteria there will be an expectation that candidates will have completed the Part 1 certificate or equivalent training, recognised by the RCGP or sister organisations, or can demonstrate that they already have the generalist competencies.

By the end of the course candidates will have developed competencies relevant to and suitable for providing interventions at a primary care with a special interest level, as outlined in the Department of Health Clinical Guidelines Drug Misuse and Dependence UK Guidelines on Clinical Management 2017.

This course is the equivalent to nine days study, spread over six months with three mandatory study days to attend and a portfolio of self directed study. At the end of the course candidates will have to submit their Professional Development Portfolio and Assessment Folder to the RCGP SMAH Assessment Board. Their work will then be evaluated and awarded with a pass or fail.

This course is run on an annual basis. The total cost is £1,500.

From 2018 the course will commence April/May 2018 to February 2019.
