This 60 minute e-learning module covers the foundation of clinical vaccinology relevant to UK practitioners working with children. It has been designed to primarily facilitate the development of skills in communicating the benefits of vaccination. The core target audience is paediatric and GP trainees, and the content has been mapped to the RCPCH and RCGP curricula. The course will also be of interest to a wide range of child health professionals including nurses and health visitors.

This online course has been designed to be interactive and engaging. It encourages learners to be reflective and they may return & repeat sessions. It is accessible anytime/any place to support learners at their convenience. There are a variety of interactions throughout the course such as knowledge tests, videos and reflective activities. The content has been mapped to RCPCH and RCGP curricula to support practice.  

Learning Objectives:
On completing the course learners will be able to:
• Describe the rationale behind vaccination programmes
• Explain the design of the UK vaccination schedule using basic immunology principles
• Communicate basic concepts of vaccination to parents effectively
• Develop consultation skills in counselling vaccine-hesitant parents
• Access resources and specialist advice on vaccination
