Looking Forward To An At Scale Future

Sign-up for this free RCGP half-day event in Norwich to share experiences and successes when working at scale.

This event aims to bring people together to share individual and organisational experiences, including successes and lessons learned, and look to the future to discuss how bigger general practice organisations influences the wider system.

There will be a chance to hear from different at scale organisational leads who will present a case study-style overview of their experiences, which will cover quality, efficiencies and their approach to new models of care. There will also be a Q&A session, a chance to network and share individual experiences, hear more from a system-level perspective and learn about what the RCGP is doing to support people and organisations working at scale.

GPs and primary care staff with an interest in working at scale are encouraged to attend even if they’re not based in the East of England.

ENT in Primary Care

This half day course of ENT essentials, ENT problems are some of the most common presentations in primary care. This course aims to improve confidence and hopefully your referrals to secondary care. By the end of the course you will have had hand on experience at performing the Dix hall pike and Epley manoeuvre for BPPV. Have a better understanding of worrying neck lumps, distinguishing globus sensations of real lumps, red flag symptoms and signs in ENT. Also understanding vestibular dizziness, how we assess patients and when referral to ENT may not be the best first line. And you will have the opportunity to ask the experts those questions that you have always wanted to know the answer too.

Joint and Soft Tissue Injection training course September 2017

The North and West London Faculty will be running an interactive, theory and practice course covering the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of musculoskeletal conditions such as: frozen shoulder, carpal tunnel, tennis/golfer’s elbow, ‘trigger’ finger, De Quervain’s tenosynovitis, rotator cuff tendinopathy, acromioclavicular joint OA, bicipital tendonitis, trochanteric bursitis, aspiration/ injection of the knee joint, Carpometacarpal (CMC) osteoarthritis (OA).

The course prepares those new to these skills to undertake examination and injection, and will deepen and refresh the knowledge and skills of those already performing injections. The course includes Direct Observation of Procedural Skills (DOPS) assessments during practical skills sessions for those wishing to evidence competence in a given procedure.

Learners will view videos, demonstrations and undertake examination and injection using highly detailed and accurate simulated models – overseen by experienced tutors and clinicians. Small group work, question and answer sessions, illustrated presentations and practice sessions enhance the learning opportunities, build confidence and enhance techniques and skills.

Being part of a team that leads a practice should be fun and exciting or the very least not a heart sink experience. An efficient, well led and managed practice creates the space and time to think and to plan. It minimises crisis management and the stress of continuously having to fire-fight. Clinical Skills Workshop Wednesday 18 October 2017

This one day course aims to help improve clinical skills in the GP consultation for more effective, efficient and patient-centred care. Improve data gathering skills, improve clinical management and encourage patient-centred approach to consultations and shared decisions.

Presentations will include an explanation of the CSA examination and its requirements.
