This is a half hour course on alkaptonuria, a rare metabolic disease. The course aims to raise awareness about the condition among GPs so that they will be aware of it and might look out for the key diagnostic signs of black urine and black pigmentation in the eyes and ears. Early diagnosis has become more important now that there is a disease modifying treatment. The course will also support GPs who have patients with Alkaptonuria by informing them about how primary, secondary and tertiary care can work together and what services are available from the National Alkaptonuria Centre in Liverpool.
