This evening class will be hosted by RCGPNI and will be facilitated by Dr Nigel Ruddell.
The class will include an update on European Council guidelines (2010) and a basic life support demo and training. ALS demo and training will include the use of automatic external defibrillators (AED's) using primary care based scenarios. The class will also cover other areas of interest such as children, choking, airway management etc. There will be a short Q & A session at the end.
Dr Nigel J. Ruddell is Assistant Medical Director of the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service. He previously worked for 9 years as a principal GP in a rural surgery in County Down and has always had an interest in pre-hospital emergency care. Since 2000 he has worked as one of a small number of Northern Ireland doctors who provide voluntary medical assistance to serious incidents alongside the Ambulance Service, most typically involving severe road accidents. He is also a member of the medical team which provides cover for all motorbike racing in Northern Ireland.
