This day will be structured through a series of lectures and talks, with panel discussions, to first discuss the current position and direction of travel with regard to the criminal offence of gross negligence manslaughter. The specific structure of the day will remain under review until much closer to the event as we anticipate much to update you on, in particular the outcomes of the Williams rapid review commissioned by the Department of Health and Social Care.

After lunch we will focus on understanding other investigative processes to which other Doctors and other health professionals might find themselves subject to.

This event will be beneficial for doctors and students of all grades and specialities.

By the end of this event, attendees should have:

  1. A clear understanding of what a serious untoward/adverse incident is.
  2. An understanding of possible investigative processes, including:
    1. Local Investigation
    2. The General Medical Council
