This course will provide you with the chance to learn or re-new surgical technique, surgical room requirements, surgical technique theory, needle stick injury and risk of blood viral infections, patient safety, removal of lipomas, ingrowing toe nails, local anaesthesia, treatment of cysts infection control and Joint injections.

There will a hands on practical session using latex skin pads and porcine skin to cover basis surgical technique, suturing haemostasis, postoperative care. Bailing out when things go wrong, different diagnosis of skin lesions, approach to pigmented lesions, malignant melanoma and unexpected malignancy.

Course programme

DAY 1 Course content:

Coffee and Registration 8-45am

Issues around consent, layout and requirements in the minor surgery room.
Equipment sterilisation, CSSD, Local anaesthesia and patient safety.
Hands on practical session using pork skin and porcine skin pads to cover basic surgical technique, suturing haemostasis, postoperative care.
Basic Surgical technique theory including safety, professional limitations, anatomical hazards.
Bail out when things go wrong. 
Infection control, needle stick injury and risk of blood bourne viral infections, local anaesthesia and patient safety. Joint and periarticular injection theory, learning landmarks on each other, hands on practical session using latex electronic models.                                                                         



Coffee and Registration 8-45am

Dermatology theory. 
Approach to pigmented lesions malignant melanoma and unexpected malignancy. Different diagnosis of skin lesions.
Dermatological surgery techniques including snipping of skin tags, save and curettage technique for epidermal lesions.
Staying within professional limitations.
Treatment of cysts lipomas and ingrowing toe nails including practical session using latex skin pads.


The participants are given a course book and a set of DVDs encompassing all areas of the two days course.  The participant will receive a certificate after the course.
