What the day includes

Full day course with local experts in Rheumatology. We will be discussing shoulder pain, plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow and carpal tunnel syndrome during the morning session. The afternoon will be a practical session teaching candidates how to administer joint injections.

 

The course is suitable for

All GPs, Trainees, Trainers, AiTs, First 5, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners.

 

Topics include

• Shoulder pain, including impingement and rotator cuff pathology

• Plantar fasciitis and Tennis/Golfers elbow

• Carpal tunnel syndrome and Osteoarthritis of the thumb

• Practical session on administering joint injections to knee, shoulder, plantar fascia and carpal tunnel.

 

Learning points

Update your knowledge on common musculoskeletal problems in primary car

How to safely administer commonly used joint injections and gain practical experience in the technique

Improve your confidence in managing these conditions in primary care.

09:30   Welcome and Introduction

11:15   Coffee break. 

11:45   Carpal tunnel syndrome; Osteoarthritis of the thumb

12:45   Lunch.  

13:45   Practical session rotating around 4 groups of 30 minutes each session  

  30 minutes on Knee

  30 minutes on shoulder

  30 minutes on plantar facia

  30 minutes on carpal tunnel   

15:45  Coffee break. 

15:55  Ask a rheumatologist session

 Questions, answers / cases for discussion   

16:30  Close
