The Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) is the
Secretariat to the Royal Colleges' International Forum.
International Activities
The International Committee, established in 1987, is responsible
for all College overseas contacts and initiatives to:
- promote the standing and the study of general practice in
Primary Care
- assist educational exchange and dialogue between the United
Kingdom and overseas
- support overseas members as the Board of the College Overseas
Faculty
- represent the interests of general practice in the UK and of
College members through representations to the UK government and
the EU and to other European and world-wide bodies
- manage and support activities in relation to the International
Family Medicine Development Programme

Examinations - MRCGP (International examination)
The College developed the MRCGP [International
examination] on the premise that it is inappropriate to export the
UK MRCGP. The MRCGP[INT] provides a framework for the development
of locally relevant assessments of national academic organisations
with the availability of RCGP advice and support followed by
college accreditation once the new assessment has fulfilled all the
criteria and is of an equivalent academic rigour to MRCGP.
