Visit Information
Wherever possible, the College would appreciate
two months' notice before a visit takes place. If two or more
alternative dates can be offered, one month’s notice should be
adequate.
If the main purpose of your group’s visit is to
gain greater knowledge of the delivery of primary care in the UK,
and your group numbers less than twelve people, you could visit a
Member of the College at their practice? This type of visit also
has the advantage of seeing at first hand the practice environment,
and often, the opportunity of meeting other members of the practice
team.
The likelihood of a positive response to a
request to discuss a clinical aspect of general practice is also
greater if a practice visit can be arranged.
All visits are conducted in English and
obviously will involve a fair degree of medical and technical
language, and visitors are advised to arrange for interpreters to
accompany them, if this is required. In some cases it may be
possible to arrange for you to meet with a member of the College
who speaks your language.
If it is necessary for Officers or
Members to travel to the College to meet with overseas
visitors, it will be necessary in these circumstances for the
visitors to meet the full expenses incurred by College
representatives. This will primarily relate to travelling expenses
to London but on some occasions will involve locum expenses to
allow the College representative to be absent from their practice.
We will contact you in advance with a quotation for cost of the
presentation for your approval. Please also note payment will be
required in advance of the visit, on confirmation of your
approval.
