Sponsorship of Overseas Doctors to Train in UK General Practice

The College does not currently operate a sponsorship scheme for overseas doctors to gain exemption from the PLAB test in order to train in UK general practice.

Arrangements for training in general practice are currently under consideration at a national level with discussions underway between various bodies. We are taking an active role in these discussions in an attempt to develop a coherent system to provide medical graduates from overseas with the opportunity of training in UK General Practice. It will not be possible for us to establish a formal sponsorship scheme until these discussions are complete.

We are therefore sorry that we are unable to assist you further on this occasion. If you wish to be advised if there is any change in the situation please email us your contact details.
