The MRCGP[INT] Development Days
1-2 October 2012 in Glasgow, Scotland
The MRCGP[INT] Development
Days are an important opportunity for countries interested in
MRCGP[INT] accreditation to learn from each other
and understand how others have been addressing the pressures
of change affecting the delivery of family medicine. It helps
counties or regions creatively anticipate, plan and integrate
changes in their own family medicine healthcare systems.

Dear colleague,
It is my pleasure in my capacity as Chair of the RCGP's MRCGP[INT]
Board to invite you to Glasgow, Scotland in October 2012 to attend
our annual MRCGP[INT] Development Days.
The reasoning behind a change of date and venue is that in addition
to the MRCGP[INT] Development Days the RCGP is also hosting its
Annual Primary Care Conference in Glasgow in October, and this year
the conference theme is 'Global General
Practice'.
The MRCGP[INT] Development Days will
run on 1 - 2 October 2012 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Glasgow, while
the RCGP Annual Conference will run from 3 - 6 October at the SECC,
Glasgow. We believe holding the conferences consecutively provides
a fantastic opportunity for our international partners to attend
both global events at minimal cost.
As always, attendance at the MRCGP[INT] Development Days is free of
charge. We have also negotiated with the Annual Conference team and
have agreed that MRCGP[INT] Development Day delegates will be able
to register for the RCGP Annual Conference at a reduced
rate of £202, which is a 50% discount on
the conference registration fee. This offer is only valid until 27
July 2012.
We would therefore like to extend this
offer to you as a committed collaborator in the development of
global family medicine, and sincerely hope that you and your
colleagues will accept our invitation, as your presence will be
invaluable for the quality of both events.
Due to the fact that the College is moving to our permanent
premises in Euston Square in September 2012, we are no longer able
to benefit from free in-house conference facilities (the Croydon
building will not be available to the RCGP), and as we now have to
hire conference facilities elsewhere, regrettably we do not have a
budget to offer any hotel accommodation for our delegates.
We can recommend a number of hotels where you will be able to book
accommodation at a reduced rate. The city also offers a diverse
range of hotels at various prices and we trust that you will be
able to find appropriate lodgings which will enable you to relax
and enjoy both conferences during your stay. Please visit the
RCGP Annual Conference
website where you can access information on local
accommodation and also register for the Annual
Conference.
The MRCGP[INT] Development Days
programme is currently being finalised, and we will communicate
this to you in the forthcoming weeks. We would be most grateful if
you could indicate your intentions on attending by sending us a
registration form as early as possible but
before 27 July 2012 to ensure that the 50%
discount for RCGP Annual Conference attendance is still
available.
You can indicate whether you wish to attend both conferences by
downloading the registration form and stating your preferences
before returning it to us. If you opt to attend the Annual
Conference in addition to the MRCGP[INT] Development Days at the
reduced rate, then please tick the appropriate box.
As always, we are happy to provide you with a letter of invitation
to obtain the necessary visas, so please do let us know if you need
an invitation letter or require any further information.
As we do not always have the current contact email addresses for
all of our friends and colleagues, I will be most grateful if you
will be kind enough to circulate this letter through your local
network of like-minded family doctors.
We look forward to seeing you at both events!
All the best wishes,
Kind regards,
Dr John V. Howard FRCGP FRCP
MRCGP[INT] Board Chair and Medical
Director
