Transition Arrangements

The new AiT packages are designed for those sitting the nMRCGP assessments, and in particular the Workplace-Based Assessment (the packages include the e-Portfolio required for the WPBA component of the nMRCGP).

If you are sitting the old MRCGP exam

Trainees completing Summative Assessment and sitting the old MRCGP exam can still join the College as Associates in Training. Those who are appling for a Certificate of Completion of Training can register with the College’s Certification Unit for £350, which includes up to 3 years free AiT membership. Trainees who are applying for a Certificate confirming Eligibility for General Practice Registration (under Article 11), can also join as an AiT on the Article 11 GP Registrar rate.

If you are sitting the AKT or CSA component of the nMRCGP, but not the WPBA

Trainees not sitting the WBPA component of the nMRCGP, as above, would register with the College under the old system. For CCT applicants, this would involve registering with the College’s Certification Unit for £350, which includes up to 3 years free AiT membership. Trainees applying for a Certificate confirming Eligibility for General Practice Registration (under Article 11), can join on the Article 11 GP Registrar rate.

If you are sitting the nMRCGP, including the WPBA

You should register on one of the new packages.

Existing Associates in Training

If you are sitting a component of the nMRCGP (WPBA, AKT or CSA) and have already registered with the College, you can upgrade your package to provide us with the details required for the assessments. For those sitting the WPBA, these details will be used to create your ePortfolio. From August, simply choose the ‘Upgrade for Existing AiT’ option on the registration page. There is no additional cost for this registration and as an AiT you will be eligible for a 10% discount on the AKT and CSA components of the assessment.

Benefits

Please note, if you have registered with the College for £350, the AiT package you are on will include most but not all of the benefits listed in the new package. Specifically, hard copy subscriptions to the British Journal of General Practice, the new AiT journal based on the Curriculum and access to nPEP are additional items which you can subscribe to, but would need to pay an additional sum to receive. Please contact the Membership Support team if you would like to subscribe to receive any of these additional items.
