How do I apply?

You need to make a general application to take the examination. MRCGP application forms are available online or by request from the Examination Department. First time applicants should complete form ED1 and all others should complete form ED2.


Can I select the examination venue?

Yes, for the AKT and written papers. For further information on selecting the examination venue, please refer to the pages within the Examination Regulations.
 
Candidates sitting the oral examination cannot give a preference, although they can state the individual day(s) they are unable to attend.


What correspondence should I expect from the Examination Department?

(a) The return of a self-addressed card - This is to indicate receipt of your application.
(b) Approval letter - This will be sent as soon as your application has been approved.
(c) Instructions letter - This is normally sent with the relevant enclosures regarding each module you are to sit, around five to six weeks after the closing date.
(d) Results letter - Results are issued within two weeks of the conclusion of the examination session.


Is the MRCGP examination the only way to become a member?

No, Membership by Assessment of Performance (MAP) is the alternative route to membership.
