Certificate confirming eligibility for GP registration (CEGPR or Article 11)

A CEGPR (Certificate Confirming Eligibility for GP Registration) is awarded to doctors who have not followed the standard CCT route and have not completed a full PMETB approved training programme and wish to have their training, qualifications and experience assessed for eligibility for entry into the GP register.

If the training you are putting forward for assessment includes any of the following:

  • Posts undertaken outside the United Kingdom.
  • Posts within the United Kingdom, which were not selected for GP training purposes when they were undertaken.
  • Experience undertaken more than seven years prior to your application for a certificate.

then you will need to apply to PMETB for a Certificate confirming Eligibility for General Practice Registration (CEGPR) under Article 11. Please note that applicants will need to apply to PMETB 6 months prior to the completion date of their training programme.

Please note that the law does not allow PMETB to accept applications from doctors who do not have training or qualifications in general practice.

Further information about the PMETB application process, specialty specific guidance regarding suitable experience, and the relevant application forms, are available on their website.

The specialty specific guidance describes the criteria required for certification in general practice and you may wish to consider whether your training programme will enable you to meet the criteria listed.

You can also read the RCGP Article 11/CEGPR guidance.

The application process for this can be found on the PMETB website www.pmetb.org.uk

Any existing GP trainees who are completing nMRCGP and are applying under Article 11 for a CEGPR need to register with the RCGP as soon as possible in order to obtain access to their ePortfolio.

If you are completing SA, you will need to continue to document your training on VTR forms in order to submit these to PMETB with your application for a CEGPR.
