Developing and Maintaining your Career

Your learning continues throughout your career, and there a number of organisations, including the College, that can help you to fulfil the requirements of continuing professional development.

As a GP, your career may develop in any number of different ways. You might decide for example to focus on academic general practice, out of hours care, develop a special clinical interest, become a medical adviser, a sessional GP, become involved in medico-politics, become a College examiner, a salaried GP... the list goes on.
If you are coming to work in the UK from overseas, please see the section on Advice for Overseas Doctors.
