Medical Educators' Group

Statement of Purpose

Many general practitioners, and members of the wider healthcare team, are working in an educational role. The RCGP wishes to acknowledge the specialist role of medical educators and to offer them additional services, resources and support through membership of the RCGP’s MEG.

The MEG is inclusive of all educational roles at all levels, including undergraduate, Foundation, postgraduate, CPD. It also encourages membership from GPs who are aspiring to become educators and who are looking for support and information to help them achieve this.

MEG’s focus is on facilitating communication and providing resources and information, and will not seek to duplicate or to compete with initiatives or services offered to GP Educators by other groups.

Statement of Purpose

Many general practitioners, and members of the wider healthcare team, are working in an educational role. The RCGP wishes to acknowledge the specialist role of medical educators and to offer them additional services, resources and support through membership of the RCGP’s Medical Educators’ Group (MEG).

The MEG will be inclusive of all educational roles, and is not aimed only at those who are training a postgraduate learner working towards a CCT. It will be open to all educational roles at all levels, including undergraduate, Foundation, postgraduate, CPD and others. It will also encourage membership from GPs who are aspiring to become educators and who are looking for support and information to help them achieve this.

The MEG is committed to working collaboratively with other groups and organisations concerned with GP Educators, for example COGPED, the Academy of Medical Educators, UKCEA, NAPCE and UKAPD. The focus of the RCGP’s MEG will be on facilitating communication and providing resources and information, and will not seek to duplicate or to compete with initiatives or services offered to GP Educators by other groups.

The MEG will operate virtually through an online-learning environment which will be accessed via the RCGP website. It is intended that the MEG webpages will include discussion fora, resources and materials to develop the educator, and to be used for the education of others.

By using the MEG you agree to be bound by these terms which shall take effect immediately on your first use of the site. If you do not agree to be bound by all of the terms please do not access, use and/or contribute to the MEG.
