About the Conference
October 2012 sees the next
RCGP Annual Primary Care Conference take place in Glasgow and we
very much look forward to welcoming many of you for what promises
to be our biggest Conference yet.
The Conference is the
must attend event for GPs and practice team
colleagues, showcasing the latest clinical and policy developments
across the UK and brings together an impressive range of national
and international speakers.
A packed programme ensures there is something to suit the whole
practice team.
The Conference updates
delegates on matters relevant to their practice and informs and
educates on the latest technological developments.
This year's Conference
theme is Global General Practice
where we shall be:
- celebrating best practice in the
healthcare services we deliver in the UK; and
- welcoming international speakers and
colleagues to learn about innovative practice in other parts of the
world.
There are a wide variety of small seminars and workshops focusing
on clinical updates, with opportunities to learn new skills and
exchange ideas using a range of educational techniques.
There are many opportunities to network and exchange ideas with
fellow delegates - over 1,700 primary care professionals are
expected to attend. The extensive social programme will also allow
time for some fun and relaxation!
Attending the Conference will help
your day-to-day practice and enhance your patient care. Previous
attendees have commented that the opportunity to hear from
world-class healthcare experts and gather with fellow RCGP members
to discuss key issues of the day left them feeling energised and
proud to be a GP.
Our biggest programme of concurrent
sessions to date will ensure there is something for everyone.
Alongside our extensive clinical stream are sessions focussing on
education, policy, commissioning and patients as well as specific
sessions for First5 GPs, AiTs and the wider practice team. In
addition, for the first time ever at an RCGP conference, there will
be the opportunity for First5 GPs, AiTs and members of the RCGP
Junior International Committee to attend bespoke pre-conference
sessions.
Finally, another first in 2012 will be
our collaboration with the Society for Academic Primary Care
(SAPC), who will share the first day of our conference with us,
providing an excellent opportunity for specialist academic input to
our opening programme.
As always, this will be different from any other conference you
attend this year. We look forward to welcoming you to Glasgow in
