Secure Environments Network (SEN)

The Secure Environments Network (SEN) brings together clinicians who work within secure environments and with the socially-excluded to promote best practice in the provision of care.

The network was created after a need was identified for further supporting the clinicians working with these challenging and often isolated environments.

SEN aims to develop, support and encourage the role of doctors in providing primary care in secure environments such as the Prison Service and Probation Service.

It does this by supporting and encouraging training for GPs who work in these areas and support the continuity of care and integration of patients from secure environments on return to the wider community.

It also supports and encourages the development of research into primary care in secure environments and the professional leadership of this group of doctors across Wales.

The network is chaired by Dr Jake Hard  held its first meeting in October 2008 and meetings are held quarterly each year.
