GP Receptionist Training Programme October 2007

RCGP Wales, in collaboration with RCGP NI ran two ‘GP Receptionist Training Programmes’ in South East and South West Wales during October 2007. A total of 93 Receptionists took part in the training.

The programme is designed to enhance the skills required and which are implicit in the role of the practice receptionist.  The needs which have driven this programme have been identified by a wide range of general practice staff and from GPs themselves. The skills which are shared during the programme relate directly to The NHS Knowledge and Skills Framework (NHS KSF) and the Development  Review

Both days were very busy and lots of information was given to the receptionists.
The agenda included:
managing risk at reception, confidentiality issues, dealing with aggression and customer care. There was plenty of interactive group work where the receptionists were set case studies to work on.

Comments and feedback from delegates from both events demonstrated  that each event was extremely successful.
Candidates felt that they would take on the advice given from the trainers and use it in their daily routines.

Quotes:

Day was a great success; Enjoyable; Well organised and beneficial to the receptionists; Excellent Course thoroughly enjoyed and will take a lot from it; I will pass information onto colleagues; Valuable information gained.
