End of Life Care in Wales

Devolution in Wales has afforded great opportunities and it is opportune that we should hold this conference to focus how Wales will develop End of Life Care as the Department of Health in England will soon be announcing its End of Life Care Strategy.  In the context of caring for an aging population and improvements on chronic disease management resulting in longer life expectancy, it is necessary for us all to work together to find solutions. The Royal College of General Practitioners in Wales sees this area as a priority and is pleased to work with others, including the Welsh Assembly Government, in facilitating this day.  We welcome anyone involved or interested in EOLC whether you are a provider of care, commissioner at an LHB or work at strategic level. This day provides opportunities for all members of the Primary and Community Care Teams, Specialists in Palliative Care, carers, patients and managers to discuss the relevant issues and together pave a way forward.
