Welcome to the RCGP Wales Homepage
The Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) is the
academic organisation in the UK for general practitioners. Its aim
is to encourage and maintain the highest standards of general
medical practice and act as the ‘voice’ of general practitioners on
education, training and issues around standards of care for
patients. The College in Wales came into existence in 1953 (one
year after the UK College), when a Welsh Council was created to
take forward the College’s interests within the principality. After
a number of years of increased activity (and political devolution
in Wales), the College now rents premises in Regus House, Cardiff
Bay, to house its expanding Welsh operation. In addition to a base
in the centre of Cardiff, the College in Wales is represented
through three regional faculty offices in South West Wales, South
East Wales and North Wales.

Promoting disability
equality in Primary Care in Wales
Who we are
EquIP Cymru is a consortium of the major
bodies across Wales involved in disability issue including RNIB
Cymru , RNID Cymru, Mind Cymru, Mencap Cymru, Disability
Wales, the Disability Rights Commission, the NHS
Centre for Equality and Human Rights, the Welsh Assembly Government
and Wales Centre for Health. It is led by RCGP
Wales with full support and engagement from GPC
Wales. We are therefore able to draw upon the experience and
advice of a wide range of bodies concerned with disability equality
in Wales as well as those representing disabled people and the
Primary Care workforce.
Our Aim
Our principal aim is to provide pan-disability
training to primary care staff in Wales, as a first step to improve
knowledge in this area and reduce barriers to access to primary
care services for Welsh people.
