Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

 
RCGP Scotland is committed to providing a range of opportunities, activities and materials that will assist members with their own Continuing Professional Development. This package is designed to be attractive to doctors at different stages of their career and to doctors working in different localities throughout Scotland. These materials are currently being developed and expanded to reflect recent significant professional policy developments and contractual changes.
 
EPASS - EPASS awards accreditation to education providers who want to gain recognition for their commitment to quality education. 
 
PEP QB – Developed by and available from RCGP Scotland, PEP QB is an interactive self-assessment programmes available via CD-Rom. This CD contains 160 multiple-choice questions covering the full range of clinical areas in clinical practice and has been designed to test knowledge, provide educational detail and information. PEP QB will be of interest to all medically qualified members of the primary care health team, GP trainers and hospital Senior House Officers, as well as potential examination candidates.
 
Courses and events – RCGP Scotland continues to organise national educational events. Many courses and conferences are also available from our faculty offices. Details of all events in Scotland can be accessed via our Events section.
 
Developments in Education – E-learning and teleconferencing are innovative methods of learning which are currently being considered for use by RCGP Scotland. Although this form of education will be particularly useful for rural members the convenience and ease of access to it will make it attractive to the membership as a whole.
 
Appraisal and Revalidation - RCGP Scotland has contributed to the development of the Appraisal and Revalidation process in Scotland and has been successful in integrating its existing quality markers (such as QPA, PA, MAP and FBA) into these processes.
 
Tools and Learning Plans (PDPs) – PDPs will become an essential part of Continuing Professional Development as they are integral to the annual appraisal programme in Scotland. RCGP Scotland is currently working to develop methods for assessing and developing PDPs. PEP is currently available as one such tool.
 
Developments across the UK - RCGP UK has a vast amount of expertise and has a range of initiatives for continuing professional development currently in development.
