The College is continually looking for innovative ideas and
developments, which take forward the discipline of general practice
and the quality of patient care. One of the ways in which this is
done is through a number of annual/bi-annual awards and
prizes.
The College in Scotland administers awards and prizes
exclusively for GPs in Scotland. These include:
The Ian Stokoe Memorial Award
This is awarded bi-annually and is to encourage high standards
in the preparation of material for publication, with particular
regard to good visual presentation.
The Ian Dingwall Grant Award
This
bi-annual award is intended to encourage young postgraduates
preparing for a career in General Practice, by permitting them to
add to their experience by preparing a pilot study or planning a
programme of continuing study or research or planning visits to
departments or institutions at home or abroad.
Patient Participation Awards
This award is presented annually for innovative achievement within
Primary Care both in the East of Scotland and North East of
Scotland Faculties. This could include innovation in the clinical,
administrative or managerial spheres and is open to all Primary
Care staff.
National awards are administered by the Awards Committee in
London, which is chaired by the President of RCGP.
