Health Protection Scotland guidance on Avian Flu
Following confirmation that a swan found dead in
Fife has tested positive for the H5N1 strain of avian flu, NHS Board Directors of Public Health (DPHs) have been fully briefed on the management of the situation.
It is expected that DPHs will cascade information locally, but if GP practices in your area have not received information and need advice they should be advised to either contact their NHS Board DPH or check the information which has been posted on the
Health Protection Scotland
website.
In addition, a NHS24 Helpline has been set up to advise anxious patients. This service is not restricted to Fife and will be available to members of the public throughout Scotland.
Local Medical Committees may wish to cascade this to practices in their area.
