What We Do

The College in Scotland seeks to promote the College’s objectives in Scotland, which are to:

Promote the profession by encouraging persons of ability to enter the medical profession and become general practitioners.

Enhance medical knowledge and the skills of general practitioners by undertaking or assisting others in undertaking training courses or other educational activities.

Raise the quality of patient care through a wide range of quality initiatives and awards, setting standards and clinical guidelines for clinical care.

Encourage research in general practice to improve the evidence-base for best practice on which standards and guidelines may be based.

Support its members by providing opportunities for doctors to network and share ideas with others, mainly through its faculties and e-mail lists.

Represent the views of GPs, and in particular our members, through comment and representation.
