Objectives

RCGP Scotland seeks to promote the College’s objectives in Scotland, which are:

  • To promote the profession by encouraging persons of ability to enter the medical profession and become general practitioners.
  • To enhance medical knowledge and the skills of general practitioners by undertaking or assisting others in undertaking training courses or other educational activities.
  • To raise the quality of patient care through a wide range of quality initiatives and awards, setting standards and clinical guidelines for clinical care.
  • To encourage research in general practice to improve the evidence-base for best practice on which standards and guidelines may be based.
  • To support its members by providing opportunities for doctors to network and share ideas with others, mainly through its faculties and e-mail lists.
  • To represent the views of GPs, and in particular our members, through comment and representation.
