RCGP Celebration Evening 2007Celebration Evening 2007

2007 was another great year for the Northern Ireland RCGP and on Saturday 1st December 2007 in the Dunadry Hotel we had much to celebrate. Throughout the year the NI Council office has been inundated with applicants to the categories of Practice administration of the Year and Patient Nomination, so much so that short listing had to take place. Judging and making the final decision on who was to win was made all the more difficult.

This year also saw two practices achieve the prestigious Quality Practice Award and five practices accomplish the Practice Accreditation Award.

Awards were also presented for the Top Scoring MRCGP Pass in Northern Ireland which was presented by Prof. David Haslam to Dr Peter Quinn who has joined the College as a member. For the first time at this awards ceremony we presented Fellowship of the Institute of Health Care Management to Nicola Wilkinson, Parkside Medical Practice, who was the first practice manager in Northern Ireland to receive the accolade

As with previous years the Ceremony itself was very successful and went very smoothly. Over 250 GPs, Practice Staff, invited guests, friends, past provosts and dignitaries were in attendance.

The event captured the Christmas party atmosphere with many practices choosing to make this evening their Christmas night out.

In addition we were delighted to welcome the President of the College Prof David Haslam to the event. Dr Andrew McCormick, Dr Michael as well as Joe Martin This was a great opportunity for the Northern Ireland members who were in attendance and Prof Haslam was pleased to have been there to present some of the awards:

Guests were welcomed with a champagne cocktail before proceeding into the Ballroom for the announcement of the winners.

Dr. David Johnston began the evening by officially thanking Dr Jeni McAughey for her service to the NI College over the last 3 years after which the awards ceremony commenced. This was followed by a four course dinner after which The Brokers sang, guests danced and the celebrations continued into the wee hours of the morning.

The Royal College Of GPs is already looking forward to next years celebration evening which will be held on the 6th December  in the Dunadry Hotel and which will see the introduction of some new awards!
