Yorkshire Faculty Prizes
What?
Introducing the new RCGP Yorkshire
Faculty/Leeds Academic Unit of Primary Care Postgraduate Prize….
(Drum roll)
Why?
· To
contribute to the debate about how we can improve general
practice
· To enhance
your professional development (and CV)
· To
challenge yourself to write something that could be published (eg
in the BJGP)
· To compete
for the £500 prize!
When?
Closing date 1st November 2009
How?
Write a 1000 word, thought-provoking and
referenced piece on ‘Improving the quality of general
practice’.
You might prefer to focus on a clinical topic
or aspect of health care you are most familiar with from your own
experience (eg from work or as a patient). Alternatively, you
can focus on any other issue of interest, whether it is a
recognised healthcare priority or neglected issue. The topic
need not be a clinical one; it could relate to broader issues such
as access or patient experience.
Marks will be apportioned as follows by a team
consisting of Faculty Board members:
· A concise
outline of a problem with the quality of care (20%)
· Accounts of
what you, with or without other members of your practice team, have
done to address this problem OR what you believe needs to be
done. This should draw upon an evidence base and be practical
(20%)
·
Demonstration of critical insights into the strengths and
limitations of what you have achieved OR your proposal for change
(20%)
·
Consideration of how lessons from your work or plan for improvement
could be rolled out across general practice (20%)
· Clear and
well-written essay keeping within the word count and paying
attention to grammar and use of plain English (20%)
