East Anglia Faculty

About Us

The East Anglia Faculty’s aim is to:

  • Provide, at the most economical cost, all Overhead and Baseline activities and deliver to the required quality standard
  • Strive to be relevant to our membership by valuing and effectively involving our membership through effective communication
  • Enable members to deliver more patient centred care
  • Support GPs in raising standards of care by ensuring communication to members on College standards and guidelines
  • Deliver a high quality, tailored educational programme which benefits members and promotes the College
  • Emphasise morale and ensure GP values are met at all stages of the GPs careers

We aim to achieve this by:

  • Ensuring that delivery of Overhead and Baseline activities are monitored and reviewed to ensure best practice is adopted
  • Effective use of our Faculty Journal and Newsletter ‘GP Look East’, 2-3 monthly E-Zine Bulletin, website global server and regular communication with our district representatives.
  • By involving the two lay representatives on Faculty Executive in policy making and relevant faculty activities
  • Through the faculty website, email, GP Look East, E-Zine Bulletin and faculty activities
  • Through Annual Symposium, Spring Meeting, Annual Fellows Meeting, nMRCGP support programmes and Faculty AiT annual programme and other courses throughout the year.  Also through links with two schools/departments of medical education in the University of Cambridge and University of East Anglia and the East of England Deanery
  • Through Faculty Executive Board Meetings, Education Sub-Committee Meetings, Unified Route to Fellowship and links to CPD and revalidation processes

A copy of our Annual Report can be viewed in the Faculty's publications section.

The work of the faculty is led by our faculty board, which is comprised of local members. The board meets four times a year and is represented on the College’s main Council.  The faculty board decide which events and courses to run throughout the year, discuss matters of Council  and has good exchange of ideas.  Further details about our faculty board members, and how to contact them, are available under Who we Are.

Our key activities include running educational events, providing opportunities for networking and organising awards and prizes locally. Further details of each activity are available under Initiatives and Projects.
