Awards and Prizes
The faculty organises the following local awards and prizes:
RCGP Travel Bursary
is open to either a current registrar with an Irish training
scheme or a graduate of an Irish training scheme within 5 years of
graduation. The winner of the 2011 Travel Bursary was Dr.
Muireann de Paor. You can read her report
here. She was presented with the bursary at the
2011 AGM.
Manne Berber Research Award (biennial)
for original research/completed audit is open to GPs working in
general practice on the island of Ireland.
The prize will be awarded this year. Details will be available
shortly.
Sheppard Memorial Prize
is awarded annually to one undergraduate and biennially
to one postgraduate on any subject pertinent to general
practice in Ireland.
The 2011 award was presented at our Winter Meeting by
Professor Scott Brown:

The prize was not awarded in
2011.
A particular initiative of the Republic of Ireland Faculty is to
encourage Irish GPs to submit for RCGP awards, e.g. the Boots
Research Award. Please check the RCGP awards page to see if any category attracts your
submission.
