Patient Partnership in Practice (PPiP)
One of our most important partnerships is with patients and
through our PPiP group we ensure patient views are taken into
account in the development of general practice.
The group provides us with advice and guidance
on a range of medical issues in line with its following stated
aims:
- Identify and develop ideas together and lead
activities which encourage GPs to work in partnership most
effectively with patients and the public.
- Influence and respond to activity in Wales
that impacts of the quality of patient care.
- Work together as a team to ensure that
activities of College respond to patient needs.
- Foster and support links with other RCGP
Patient Partnership Groups.
The PPiP group is made up of seven members,
two general practitioners plus one deputy (who must be members of
the College) and up to five lay members - lay being a person
who does not possess a medical qualifiction. All members
should act as individuals and requested to contribute to the group
from the patient’s perspective rather than as a representative of
an organisation. The group may, in addition, invite other
groups/individuals to its meetings to discuss specific topics, as
appropriate.
Members usually meet four times a year and the
Chair of the group represents the views of the group at the RCGP
Welsh Council.
