Alastair Donald Award

 

As a former Chair and President of RCGP Alastair Donald made a huge contribution to the work of the College in improving the standing of general practice throughout the UK.  The values of service and excellence that he fostered through his clinical, educational, mentoring and diplomatic skills are at the heart of this award.

 

Aim of the Award

The award will recognise outstanding achievement in the areas of service delivery, education, research and wider contribution to society. It will also commemorate the contribution that Alastair Donald made to the RCGP.

  

Eligibility

The award will be given to a member or fellow of the College, who has provided excellence or a substantial contribution, particularly at a local level. Doctors elected into UK positions in the College or who have received UK awards are not eligible.

 

Nomination Process

A letter of nomination should be submitted by a Member or Fellow of good standing clearly outlining he outstanding contribution of the nominee. Each nomination should have a second letter of support from a Member or Fellow of good standing.

 

 

  

 Winning the Award

The award is presented at an Annual RCGP Scotland Awards Evening. The event will celebrate General Practice and will also include the RCGP Scotland Patient Nomination Award and the Practice Team Award.

 

The winner of the Alastair Donald Award will receive a complimentary place at the event, which will also be attended by other winners and special guests including Scottish Parliament and the Scottish media.
