Inequalities, Deprivation and General Practice in
Scotland

Time to Care is a comprehensive, evidence-based position
paper addressing Scotland’s continuing problem of inequalities in
health.
Using an event entitled ‘GPs at the Deep
End’ held in Erskine in September 2009, we listened to the
experience and views of general practitioners working in the front
line of NHS Scotland serving the 100 most deprived practice
populations.
From the outset of the project, the Scottish
Government Department of Primary Care have provided support and
substantial funding, firstly for the original GPs at the Deep End
meeting and then for subsequent smaller Deep End project
events.
