Influencing Quality

Representatives and staff have had many excellent opportunities in 2010/2011 to discuss and influence the decision sof those who have the responsibility of setting and implementing quality standards within primary care.

To date the Quality Committee have had successful meetings with the Regualtion and Quality Improvement Authority (RQIA) Dr Sloan Harper, Director of Intergrated Care and the Northern Ireland Health and Social Care Board and Dr Clare Loughrey, Director of Postgraduate General Practice Education at the Northern Ireland Medical and Dental Training Agency.

Commenting on the success of the meetings the Chairman of the Quality Committee, Dr John O’Kelly explained that “this year has seen a significant increase in work for the Quality Committee. We have embarked on a series of strategically important meetings with the Department of Health and the Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority. These meetings have been fruitful for the committee in developing the profile for all of the quality programmes and initiatives”
