Other useful Patient Participation Organisations
RCGP PPG (London)
http://www.rcgp.org.uk/patient_information/patient_partnership_group.aspx
The College has an active Patient Partnership Group (PPG)
through which it maintains its links with patients and their
concerns. The College thus ensures that the views of patients are
taken into account in the development of general practice. The
Group, which comprises general practitioners and lay members
advises the College on a range of medical issues and has produced
several documents giving guidance.
P3 (RCGP Scotland)

The College in Scotland is similarly committed to working in
partnership with the public on decision-making, setting policy
objectives and developing patient care. In 1998 the College in
Scotland set up a Scottish Patient Liaison Group (SPLG), which
has since been renamed ‘Patient Partnership in Practice' (P³).
The College is one of the front-runners in Scotland in taking
forward initiatives to develop and ensure the best possible
doctor/patient relationship in Scotland.
PPiP (Wales)

The Patient Partnership in Practice Group occupies a similar
role to that of the other patient groups. The College in Wales
views the Group's work as a hugely important way of ensuring
patient views are taken into account in the development of general
practice.
National Association for Patient
Participation (NAPP)
http://www.napp.org.uk/
Patient Participation Groups make an important contribution to
the well-being of their communities. Their activities include
health promotion, information provision, service delivery,
fundraising and strategic input to the practice.
N.A.P.P. is the umbrella organisation for Patient Participation
Groups (PPGs) within primary care and we have 470 members. We
are able to help with advice on getting a PPG started, as well as
guidance on maintaining the Group and making it more effective.
The Patient and Client Council
(PCC)
http://www.patientclientcouncil.hscni.net/
The Patient and Client Council (PCC) was established on the 1st
April 2009, as a powerful, independent voice for people.
The Patient and Client Council has a Board made up of a Chair
and sixteen non-executive directors, recruited from across Northern
Ireland under the Public Appointments Process. The Board is
responsible for setting the policy and direction for the Patient
and Client Council and for monitoring progress and performance.
Patient UK

issues.
