Leonardo Bid for European Funding
Through CIRC, the RCGP is leading a bid for
European funding from the Leonardo Programme. This partnership
will comprise the RCGP in the UK as coordinator, Associazone
Italiana Medicinia Di Famigla in Italy, Zdrowie I Zarządzanie in
Poland, IDIAP Jordi Gol in Spain, the University of Porto
Medical School, Portugal and the University of Liège,
Belgium.
If successful, these partners will review
the impact of shared decision making on the management of diabetes
and associated comorbid conditions, which differ across age
groups.
The partnership will identify and compare
divergence across many European systems, as represented by the
spread of nations within the partnership, culminating in a report
to inform a training programme for health care professionals to
share best European practice. Each partner is engaged in
medical education, training and practice and is best placed in
their own nation to deliver the project. There has been
little work carried out to date in this area.
Fever project: Parents' experiences of urgent care
services
During the consultation on the document,
Direction of Travel for Urgent Care (2006), concerns were
expressed that the needs of children for urgent care services were
not being adequately addressed, despite the fact that they are
frequent users of urgent care services. In 2008, the Department of
Health commissioned the RCPCH, in collaboration with RCGP, CEM, NHS
Direct, JRALC and Universities of Leicester and Nottingham, to
carry out a pilot study to explore the child's journey through the
urgent care pathway using feverish illness as an indicator
condition. The project is now complete. Download the full
report.
