One copy of the paper or a link to it should be
submitted in the nomination. A paper can be
nominated by its author(s) or a person with no connection to the
paper.

Conditions of Entry
- The paper must have been published between 1st January and 31st
December 2009, in a major peer-reviewed English language journal
published either within the United Kingdom or in another country,
but it must relate to a research project which has been undertaken
within the United Kingdom and/or the Republic of Ireland.
- Papers may be submitted either directly by their author(s) or
be nominated.
- The Award Panel is especially keen to receive nominations from
people who have a read a paper whose content has particularly
impressed them, for example, because of the applicability of its
findings to service general practice or because the paper relates
to a major issue affecting general practice and/or primary
care.
- At least one of the authors should have been an active general
practitioner (i.e. undertaking at least some clinical sessions)
within the United Kingdom or the Republic of Ireland at the time
the study was undertaken. If clinical sessions were not being
undertaken at the time the study was undertaken, entries for this
award may be accepted at the discretion of the Chair of the panel
of assessors dependent on the reason for the break in the relevant
author's service or other pertinent background information.
- The award is open to all general practitioners and is not
restricted to members of the Royal College of General
Practitioners.
- If the paper has been produced by a group of researchers, at
least one of the key members of the group of authors should be a
general practitioner.
