Sex, Drugs and HIV Group
The Sex, Drugs &
HIV Group is a long-standing specialist clinical interest
group that functions within the College’s Clinical Network.
It began in the late eighties with a group of GPs who wanted to
challenge the view that general practice had no place or
understanding of HIV infection. The group developed
educational materials and held conferences to keep colleagues
informed of HIV infection, both its prevention and
management. Since then it has expanded its remit
to include issues relating to management of drug users in primary
care, management of sexual health and contraception and management
of other blood borne viruses.

Introductory Certificate on Sexual Health
RCGP Sex, Drugs & HIV Group (SDHIVG) has
developed an Introductory Certificate in Sexual Health. It is an
educational tool for generalist clinicians and practice nurses
already working in general practice and provides a basic grounding
in sexual health issues. The structure is based on the highly
successful RCGP Certificate in Management of Drug Misuse (Part 1),
an e-learning module which can be found on http://www.doctors.net.uk/ and
http://www.uknursing.net/, followed
by a one-day face-to-face training module.
More information can be found by visiting the ICSH Page
