• The Electronic Health Indicator Data (eHID) project is an EU funded project concerned with recording in-patient electronic medial records in a way that optimises the use of the records for epidemiology.  The project involved several networks throughout Europe and data from the Weekly Returns Service was compared with those in other networks.  More particularly however, we were concerned with the recording disciplines in the network. One of our conclusions was that all diseases or problems encountered at each consultation must be clearly identified in coded form. The project also emphasised the desirability of episode typing at the point of consultation.
