Spotlight projects 2017 to 2018

The following one year projects each cover a specific area of work that is either complimentary to an existing clinical priority, or takes a prescriptive 'awareness raising' approach.

Perinatal Mental Health

Having come to the end of a three year term as a Clinical Priority, Perinatal Mental Health has been extended as a 12 month Spotlight Project. Working with the Wessex Clinical Senate and Supporting Networks.

Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome

We are working with Ehlers Danlos Support UK on this one year project which aims to improve knowledge about Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, in order to increase awareness and recognition of the diverse ways in which it can present in general practice.

  • Clinical Champion: Dr Emma Reinhold

Inflammatory Bowel Disease

This project will seek to improve the detection of Inflammatory Bowel Disease and to support primary care clinicians in treating, managing and referring patients with the condition. We will work with our partners at Crohn's and Colitis UK to deliver this 12 month project.

Women's Health

We are taking forward a 12 month piece of work focusing on Women’s Health. We will work with a Clinical Champion and key stakeholders to identify and define they key issues requiring focus and support.

End of Life Care

Working with Marie Curie Cancer Care as a key stakeholder, the focus of this work is to promote and enable high quality care for people nearing the end of their life, based on their needs and preferences. Through strategic development to improve provision, and ensuring that patient preferences and choices form the basis for end of life care approaches, this project will raise the profile of End of Life care, consolidating the work already undertaken and building for the future.

TARGET Antibiotics

We are working with Public Health England to build upon previous work in this field together which led to the development of the TARGET Antibiotics Toolkit as one of the outputs from the Clinical Priority Programme in Antimicrobial Stewardship.
