Liver disease is an increasing cause of premature mortality in the UK and a current clinical priority project for the college. The RCGP and the British Liver Trust invite you to attend a half day workshop on this important clinical topic. We will look in detail at the main causes of liver disease and how new guidelines and innovative practice can be used to improve detection and appropriate management in primary care

Patient Data Choices: an upholding event

This workshop will give you and introduction and overview of the national data opt-out programme to help you understand what it is, how and when it applies, what it means for you and your patients, and how to uphold it. We will illustrate this using practical scenarios familiar to those working in general practice. This event will benefit the whole GP team, particularly practice managers, researchers and or commissioners in primary care, Caldicott Guardians, including anyone responsible for managing information within their practice.

Multimorbidity Conference: the challenge for primary care

Hosted by RCGP and the 3D Study Team, this Multimorbidity Conference is an opportunity to discuss challenges that general practice faces in providing care to patients with multiple long-term conditions, especially when physical and mental conditions occur together. These challenges include the complexities of polypharmacy, incentives which are focused on single diseases, and designing care for people with multimorbidity when care pathways and many provider organisations are disease based. This conference will consider potential solutions and innovative approaches to providing appropriate care.

Lyme Disease, PoTS, Syncope and IBD - easily missed diagnoses

The RCGP is delighted to invite you to attend a free one day workshop focusing on the diagnosis and management of Lyme disease and other 'easily missed' conditions. This workshop is part of the RCGP spotlight project for Lyme disease, which is funded by Lyme Disease Action and the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Educational Foundation. This workshop will explore the challenges faced by clinicians when investigating, treating and supporting patients with multisystemic, often non-specific, symptoms resulting from Lyme disease, PoTS, cardiovascular syncope or Inflammatory bowel disease.

This will be illustrated through use of practical scenarios that will be familiar to those working in general practice. There will also be a presentation on the national data opt-out portal and the upholding solution from NHS Digital. The event aims to benefit the whole GP team, particularly practice managers, researchers and/or commissioners in primary care, Caldicott Guardians and/or anyone who is responsible for information governance within their practice. It will also be a useful introduction to the national data opt-out in the context of general practice.
